For Preachers
To voluntarily participate in making sermons preached at New Song available on the web to New Song members and the public, please follow these steps:
- Carefully decide on the name that you wish to have publicly displayed as the author of your sermon.
- Carefully review and edit your text to remove or obscure any references to specific New Song members. Also review and edit for any other sensitive references to people or events. Be sure to ask permission from the relevant people if at all uncertain.
- Please edit the text to remove complicated formatting. Limit formatting to:
- bold, underline, and italics,
- simple headings
Please limit the use of automatically bulleted or numbered lists. The list format must be manually removed and reinserted.
- Please insert the following information at the beginning of your sermon in the following form for consistency. (A link to the Episcopal Lectionary readings will be inserted for you.)
Liturgical title of the Sunday (e.g. Third Sunday of Easter)
New Song Episcopal Church
Date preached
Your 'public' name
Scripture references in the order: Lectionary abbreviation (e.g. Easter 3A): 1st Reading, Psalm, 2nd Reading, Gospel
- Then send a digital copy in the body of an html-formatted email (preferred) or as an attached MSWord document to Rebecca.
To send as an html-formatted email:
- In your email program/browser, find a box probably labeled 'Format' or 'Sending format' and make sure that it is set to html. If you can type text with bold, underline, etc., you probably are sending in html.
- Then highlight the entire text of your sermon (Cntl-A in MS Word).
- Copy it (Cntl-C).
- And paste it into the open message window of your email program (Cntl-V).
- Edit it to suit yourself.
- And send to Rebecca
